Home Construction

Building more than just houses – we build homes.

VolunteerSponsor

We build up to 4 homes in Loudon County every year.

These homes include Energy Star, EarthCraft, and LEED practices. A combination of volunteers, future homeowners, and professional contractors are used for building each home.

Three neighborhoods have been built from raw land – Hidden Hills, Harmony Heights, and Hope Haven.

Homes for Seniors

In addition to building new houses, Loudon County Habitat for Humanity also constructs one and two bedroom efficiency homes for seniors living in run down mobile homes and renovate existing homes for sale to low income families.

Efficient Homes

Our building philosophy has led to partnerships with Oakridge National Laboratories where in 1998 four homes included solar panels and other energy efficient products, serving as test homes for zero energy housing.

Award-winning Philosophy

Throughout the years we have been received various recognitions, including in 2016 when we were recognize as Builder of the Year by the SouthFace Institute in Atlanta, Georgia.

MacKenzie Scott Donation

In 2022, Loudon County Habitat for Humanity was the recipient of a $2 Million unsolicited donation from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.

Given as a part of a larger gift to Habitat for Humanity International and eighty-three other Habitat affiliates around the country, this transformational donation will substantially further Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has access to a safe, decent, and affordable place to live. This donation provides the opportunity to leverage our efforts and broaden our partnership base in a way that will significantly benefit local families who, up to now, have been unable to secure safe, affordable housing for their families. Continued local support is essential for us to maximize this donation.
